- 1982 several years mandatory national service in the German Army (Bundeswehr) als 'Zeitsoldat' during the 'Cold War' with Russia
- 1985 University Medical School in Essen, Germany
- 1991 Completion of Medical School as 'Arzt' (doctor of medicine)
- 1992 first job as a doctor (Junior House Officer General Surgery in Shrewsbury, Shropshire). I never worked as a doctor in Germany
- live and work UK since 1992
- Qualification as a Orthopaedic and General Surgeon in the UK: FRCSEd (Fellow Of The Royal College of Surgeons)
- Qualification as a General Practicioner and work at Holt Medical Practice, Norfolk, since 1999. Retired as a GP March 2018.
- German and British citizenship
- Married to Sue from Sheringham, Norfolk
- Two children Felix and Lottie
- Aeromedical Examiner (AME). I do class 1 and class 2 CAA Medical Exams in my office Examinair Ltd at Norwich Arirport.
Flying
- I have done 155 parachute jumps in Germany. The hightes was from 12000 feet with more than 60 seconds freefall
- qualifications in paragliding, hanggliding and deltagliding which I learned in the Alps
- Private Pilot Licence (PPL) since February 2009
- Member of the McAully Flying Club in Little Snoring, near Fakenham. I fly the club Cessna 172 which is a four seater
- Member of the Felthorpe Flying Club near Norwich. This airfield has two grass runways where we fly the Chipmonk and the Tigermoth
- I am doing my IMC (instrument) and night flying rating at the moment
